Inspired by Monet this series of Sea Oats studies the color of the sky at all stages of the day. What else does one do on a wintery day by the beach with all the time in the world???
Sea oats are so breathtakingly beautiful… especially when they are dancing in the breeze. When I was a child they were plentiful on the beaches. Over the years I’ve been noting their slow disappearance from our coastlines due to coastal erosion and global warming.
I painted this series of ocean paintings while on vacation with friends. The easiest thing to take with me on this trip was a backpack with paints and a watercolor pad.
I was watching the sun setting and the magnificence of the sky and seeing the fire of red.
