Sailboats at Sunrise at the Harbor, 36×36 Acrylic, was chosen to be the featured painting at the Floating Vessels exhibition in Tampa and won an award. Seeing it printed on posters and used as the cover art of a local Tampa-based magazine was uplifting.
The style of this painting is expressionistic as well as impressionistic…almost stretching the word realism to painterly realism. It reflects my love of water expressed through color, light and how I experience the world. Notice the sky and how it is reflected in the water.
The sailboats were painted with simple strokes made with a palette knife and serve as a horizon line in the composition.
Vignettes of seascapes define a personal odyssey where sailboats symbolize the ruptures and constants of the world that I set out to shape for myself.
“… throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover.” Mark Twain
