Cotton Candy Sunset Sail

Step into a fleeting moment on the water, when the sky softens into cotton-candy hues and the sails glow as daylight gives way to evening. Cotton Candy Sunset Sail was created during a time of travel and movement, inspired by the quiet magic that appears when you slow down enough to notice light as it shifts across sea and sky.

This painting captures the atmosphere of sunset at sea — the warmth filtering through fabric and mast, the gentle rhythm of the water below, and the way color seems to hover just before fading. Pinks, corals, and softened blues move through the composition, evoking a sense of calm, wonder, and presence that exists only in these in-between moments.

Created intuitively using Caroline Karp’s 5-step signature mixed media process, this work evolved layer by layer during a live painting demonstration in the Creative Genius Studio. Texture, gesture, and color were allowed to guide the painting forward, honoring intuition over planning and letting the image reveal itself naturally.

Cotton Candy Sunset Sail is an original mixed media painting on a 24 × 24 × 1.5 inch gallery-wrapped canvas and is part of Caroline’s sailing yacht series — a body of work inspired by time spent on the water and the luminous moments found while traveling by sea.
