Morning rides along the water have a way of sharpening attention—light changes, air shifts, and familiar places feel newly seen. The Long Way Home — Morning, a Safety Harbor landscape painting, grew from a view I return to again and again while biking through Safety Harbor, Florida, where the shoreline reads as both familiar and dreamlike.
Created in Safety Harbor, this work first lived as a large-scale painting and became the visual backdrop for episodes of my Behind the Art Inspiration podcast. Later, it traveled through multiple exhibitions across Italy before returning to my studio. To support its overseas journey, the original work was divided into three individual canvases, allowing it to travel safely while evolving into a triptych.
Soft morning light moves gently across the surface, revealing atmosphere more than detail. Memory leads the way here—an accumulation of mornings layered into one luminous moment.
As one panel of a three-part journey, this work may be collected on its own or reunited with the companion panels to restore the full arc of the triptych.
Curiosity about the studio life and creative philosophy behind my work is always welcome through the Creative Genius Zone.
Exploring the other panels in this triptych offers a fuller sense of rhythm, movement, and time across the Safety Harbor shoreline.
