A moment shaped by movement, light, and intuition unfolds at the edge of sea and sky. Color shifts quietly, allowing the red sail to hold its ground against luminous blue water, suspended between motion and stillness.
Working in mixed media invites a balance between control and release. Layers are built, disrupted, and refined until the surface settles into clarity—holding both immediacy and depth. The composition reflects a pause within a larger journey, where attention sharpens and the present moment expands.
This work carries the imprint of collaboration and adaptation without narrating it outright. What remains is the sensation of openness—the freedom found when process leads and expectation follows. It is an invitation to slow down, notice the subtle transitions of light, and trust what emerges.
For those drawn to the creative philosophy behind this way of working, the Creative Genius Zone offers a deeper look into art as a practice of presence, resilience, and exploration..

Title: Red Sail at Blue Hour
Medium: Mixed media on canvas
Dimensions: 27 inches high × 46 inches wide
Canvas: Unstretched
Red Sail at Blue Hour began on the hull of a sailing vessel after boarding at ACI Marina Trogir, Croatia. The work developed further while moored near the island of Brač, absorbing the movement and light of the Adriatic during blue hour.
The painting continued as a collaboration after anchoring at the marina in Korčula, before being completed in Dubrovnik from a rooftop overlooking the Old City. Following its completion, the work returned to my studio in Clearwater, Florida.
Painting in Dubrovnik, Croatia on my birthday.
finding the right spot to paint in my new Croatian dress.
All I had to start the painting was the brown water from my espresso grounds.
