Regatta in Blue – triptych

Regatta in Blue – Triptych

There is a quiet poetry in repetition — the way sails rise and fall, the way fabric creases and releases as wind moves through it. In Regatta in Blue (Pakistani Silk Sails), the repeating shapes of the sails echo one another like a visual rhythm, each wrinkle in the silk catching light as it shifts across the water in this blue sailboat triptych painting

This piece was inspired by the craftsmanship of high-quality Pakistani silk — its strength, fluidity, and ability to hold movement even when still. As the sails stretch skyward, subtle folds are traced and highlighted with liquid gold, mirroring the way sunlight sparkles and dances across the surface of the sea. The gold glimmers not as ornament, but as memory — light remembered, motion paused.

This painting was created as a live demonstration during a Creative Genius Zone studio session, where I often explore how repetition, texture, and intuitive mark-making can transform simple shapes into layered, expressive stories. Working in real time, the sails emerged gradually — built through observation, instinct, and the quiet act of noticing how light behaves on fabric and water.

Painted as a triptych, the three canvases work together to create a sense of forward motion, like a regatta mid-pass. Yet each panel also stands on its own, allowing the collector to display the work as a unified statement or as individual moments within a larger journey. The water below reflects the sails above, repeating color, shape, and shimmer — a meditation on balance, repetition, and flow.

The artwork invites the viewer to slow down and notice the small details: the crease in fabric, the flash of light, the quiet elegance of things shaped by wind and water.
