High on top of a hill, I was staying with my two boys at our Elk Mountain retreat. It was a beautiful place with an acre of Carolina wildflowers popping up out of the rocky earth. After our morning hike, I set up my trusty easel right on that hill and chose my favorite flower to paint. My dog Arya stayed beside me soaking up the energy as I painted Elk Mountain Sunflower, 24×24 Acrylic.

The painting offers a palette of soft blues, cool yellows, earthy green, and pops of a few of my favorite ingredients that show my signature style.

Why does red work in this sunflower when I really wasn’t seeing red? I put the red in WHY??

You look and your brain IS seeing the red… you just don’t know that you are seeing it. It works.
