Evening rides carry a different kind of magic—light lowers, color deepens, and the shoreline turns reflective in more ways than one. The Long Way Home — Dusk, Safety Harbor grew from the final stretch of my familiar route in Safety Harbor, Florida, when the day exhales and everything feels hushed and luminous.
Created in Safety Harbor, the original large-scale painting later traveled through exhibitions across Italy. To support its overseas journey, the work was divided into three canvases, forming a triptych that could travel safely while preserving the continuity of the image.
Returning to my studio afterward, the work held both distance and homecoming within its layers.
Dusk brings closure and softness. Reflections stretch across the water, and the sky holds a glow that feels both fleeting and lasting. The scene becomes less about a specific shoreline and more about the feeling of return—of arriving back to yourself after moving through the world.
Collecting this panel on its own offers a complete, quiet atmosphere, while reuniting it with the companion panels restores the full arc of the triptych.

Exploring the other panels in this triptych reveals how morning, shoreline, and dusk create a complete visual journey through Safety Harbor.

Unstretched canvas
One panel of a three-piece triptych
Painted in Safety Harbor, Florida, this work became part of the visual environment for my Behind the Art Inspiration podcast before traveling internationally for exhibition in Italy. The original large-scale painting was divided into three panels to support overseas transport, creating a triptych format. After completing its exhibition history, the work returned to my studio, carrying the layered history of place and movement within its surface.
